Day 29, Level 1: Productivity, Idiocy, Excellence - and Fix You!

Hardly came up for air all day, head down working on various projects. It was a cold and miserable day outside but, inside, very productive my end.

I'm going to start this post with mention of Idiocy - and end with Excellence! The former probably doesn't deserve a capital letter! And this post will feature ... Trump!

First, Idiocy - aka blatant stupid behaviour.
Here's my observations about the word ...

IDIOCY - If you've been an idiot, and admit to being an idiot - then you're not so much of an idiot after all!
The real problem is that the real idiots can't recognise idiocy - in themselves or anyone else. And carry on blindly being an idiot ...

Not only does the world have to deal with Donald Trump's ongoing idiocy, we may have to deal with whatever idiocy Kanye West might bring to proceedings. It seems his cap may go in the ring. Seriously? What is the world coming to ...

I just googled the word Idiot and quite a few images of Trump came up. Does this photo shout out Buffoon or what?
But who's to say that Kanye won't also be a buffoon? Buffoon takes on buffoon. The new buffoon may have black skin and hair, instead of orange ...it's frightening stuff either way - and not because of their skin colour.
Sorry to post a photo of a buffoon - but ...

Went to quiz tonight at The Corner Bar in Remuera - it's a great local bar in every respect. Great food, great service, lots of camaraderie going on. And the quiz is great fun.

Tonight we had a "locum" quiz master and scorer. We trucked along pretty well throughout each round. At the end, there was a tie-break between us and another team. We thought it was for first place. But when we lost the tiebreak we realised it was for 2nd place. Which meant we came 3rd. Bugger. But we were okay with that, it's not too bad.
But then - egad - we noticed that the scores weren't quite aligned.
I was given the task of challenging that. So I did. And it turned out, our challenge was correct. We had in fact won. The scorer had written a 9 that looked like a 7. And the quiz master compiling all the scores had seen 7 instead of 9. So we had lost not just 2 points - but 4 points - as this was our bonus double-up round.
So we did have the highest score of the night. We were the winners.
But the other team that had "won" already had their winning voucher.
So - you know what - the lovely people at The Corner gave us a $100 winner's voucher as well.

How good is that!?!? It's fantastic. We love The Corner.
We'll be back next week to contest again. And spend our voucher - and more besides.
The members of our team The Shadee Bunch do eat and drink, and put plenty into The Corner Bar coffers. They have the best butter chicken curry ever!

SHARE-NOTE OF THE DAY:
Fix You ...

My fave Coldplay song.
Sam Smith has just put out his version of the song, 2020.It's emotional and lovely.

But it's not Coldplay, with Chris Martin at the forefront.
Yes it's sad in its essence, but it's spine-tingling and so uplifting.
Especially the part when, at 2 mins 40 seconds into the video  the music ramps up and Chris jumps onto the stage and then twirls a light flare thing. Then he sits at the piano and the entire band get into things. It's one of my favourite band moments ever. Ever. I haven't seen them live, but I'd love to.
They got flak when they did the Superbowl Half-Time in 2016 and I have no idea why. They were brilliant. They are brilliant.

The Fix You song was written for Gwyneth Paltrow, when Chris was married to her, to help her get through the death of her father ... oh fab words and music. Love this song.
And now Sam Smith does a beautiful version.

Check out the lovely lyrics ...

When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

When the tears come streaming down your face
'Cause you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

But high up above or down below
When you are too in love to let it show
Oh but if you never try you'll never know
Just what you're worth

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
oh and tears come streaming down your face
And I

Tears streaming down your face
I promise you I will learn from all my mistakes
oh and the tears streaming down your face
And I

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
