Day 65, Level 1: Ziggy and Katikati

Somewhat of a chaotic morning! And then I headed to Tauranga racecourse - Ziggy set to run today in R7. Friends had a horse in R2 so I was aiming to arrive in time for that. I was pushing it, the traffic over the Kaimais was heavy (due to roadworks and volume) and my car was low on petrol.

Made it to the course just in time to see friends’ horse have a very nice win. Yahoo.

Our boy Ziggy looked great as always. But he also had a poor draw as always. He was forced to race wide all the way and came 9th - but only 3 lengths from the winner. Jockey apologised for poor ride but it wasn’t really his fault.

Had a great day regardless and Ziggy will get another chance. He just needs some luck - and a decent draw!

Stayed with friends John and Penny in Katikati overnight - they have a gorgeous place - and also 2 mares and their foals.

Too tricky writing this on phone - and am tired! - so will flesh this post out with more info tomorrow. Check back!
