Day 41, Level 1: Rotorua races, keyboard tapping, cool cruising and imagine reality

What an absolutely outstanding summer's day. Alas I barely got time to step outside.

I might have been in Rotorua today had racehorse Ziggy (Saintly Way) made the field. He needed one more scratching to get in. While it would have been an absolute push to take the day out to go watch him, due to heavy workload, I would have stayed up all night to make it work. As it turned out, he didn't run and I didn't go.

Instead I spent the entire day on the computer. I have so many projects and deadlines on the go at the moment I don't know which way is up. It's a bit overwhelming to be honest, and I feel in a slight state of chaos with papers all over my office and files in all directions, a zillion emails, dozens of documents open in my computer, all being worked on. Somehow I'll meet all the deadlines, even if by the skin of my teeth. I always do - usually always by the skin of my teeth!

I did have a wee eye on the Rotorua races through the day - I had various friends with horses running. Two of them won at big odds ($26) - yahoo! One ran a pretty good race for 6th, another ran not a bad race for 7th and another was late scratched (disappointing).

I could hear the owners of the winning horses screaming their lungs out! I'm sure Ziggy would have won the race he was supposed to run in - the winning time was slower than he usually races. In which case my screams would have been heard back in Auckland! It would have been a good day down at Arawa Park, but not to be.

Disappointing he didn't get a run, as he is primed and ready to go. Trying again for next Saturday but it'll be the same story - big fields, too many horses nominated, especially in his rating band, and some have to miss out. Very frustrating.

I've been doing so much mouse moving and keyboard tapping that my right shoulder is seizing up again. It did this a while back when I was flat stick tap tap tapping. Actually, today I wondered how many words a day I'm typing on average at the moment - it would probably be in the tens of thousands. No joke! My fingers fly and my mind whirs. No wonder my shoulder is sore and my brain addled!

Went to quiz tonight - we came 6th, midfield. Our sports and music rounds were poor to say the least. Some tricky sticky icky questions. We nailed some other rounds with 10/10 but overall it was only an average performance. Still, it was fun, as usual.

Tomorrow is going to be an equally full on day of writing, editing and whatnot.

How's this for a cool cruise ship bar - the Blue Eye is a unique "underwater" bar on the Ponant line's ship La Laperouse. You can look directly through the windows into the sea.

This ship is coming to NZ to do some fabulous cruising around NZ for NZers. I'm hoping to put together a small group trip, but not sure I can pull it off. People are not so enamoured with the thought of cruising during these Covid times - but Ponant is a high-end luxury cruise line with small capacity ships. And this cruise will be within NZ waters - some cruises go to the Sub-Antarctic islands, some cruise the fiords. Unique itineraries and an opportunity for real travel further than our own backyard! Got a question? Ask me or check the website.

La Laperouse

My travel companion service is on hold - this year is running away and has proved in a pain in the proverbial. Seniors aren't in the headspace for travel and I just have too many things on at the moment that I'm committed to, half way through, excited to have my teeth into etc. I am wearing all sorts of hats and much of the work is unpaid, although some of it does generate income. It's hardly sustainable, but I do it anyway. November is always a hugely busy month for me with several long-standing projects. It's all good. I did get my flyer into some retirement villages today.

Tonight I will be in bed before midnight - I am extremely tired!

SHARE-NOTE OF THE DAY:
Imagine reality ...

There is imagination,
And there is experience.

Experience is reality,
Imagination is fantasy ... which can, in turn, become reality!
