Day 37, Level 1: Memorial service, stained glass, just do it

Morning = work.

Afternoon = off to memorial service for Sir Bob Elliott - medical researcher extraordinaire - esp diabetes and cystic fybrosis and esp in regards to paediatrics. He was the dad of a childhood/school days friend - a group of us have always kept in touch and we went to the memorial service. He died in August during lockdown period. So nice to be there today.

The weather was beautiful and some lovely reconnections made.

Glad to learn that the new Covid community case is not alarming - connected to another case and so we remain in Alert Level 1. But how many people did she expose herself to ... a lot from what we gather ... we shall see where it all goes.

The Service was held in St Mary's Church - which is where our group of old school gal-pals went to Brownies. It's a lovely church with exquisite stained glass windows. I love stained glass windows!

Stained glass windows with a New Zealand flavour ... these are all beautiful.

After the wake/refreshments mingling, we went back to the home for drinks - so great to reconnect with the family and other connections. Had a lovely couple of hours engaging with loads of people. And to be back in the home where we had childhood memories of birthday parties, sleepovers, and all sorts, was just great.

SHARE-NOTE OF THE DAY:
Just do it ...

Sir Bob was an entrepreneurial medical researcher who always sought to makes things better.

To quote from one of the speakers at the service today who quoted from Bob ... and it's a quote that resonated with me ...

"Don't ask for permission
Just be prepared to ask for forgiveness!"

In other words - just do it!
