Day 4, Level 1 (Sunday 11th October): Creative mood, and cat bonding
Another windy blustery day. No rain, but no pleasantness, that's for sure! Couldn't have any doors open, the wind was honking from all quarters.
I had a meeting about Omaha matters at 10.30. Unlocked a few more bits of historical info. One thing I do know for sure - I will NOT have my arm twisted to go on the Omaha committee. Doing the annual newsletter as a contractor is plenty!
I poached one of the fresh jumbo eggs for brunch, enjoyed with avocado and tomato. There is no doubt that egg was as good as good eggs get!
After doing some more work. Yes, it's Sunday, but that's irrelevant. Day, date, time - doesn't matter as long as the three elements work for me (not societal "norm" - which is generally anything but normal!)
I reviewed a Constitution and its amendments, which I'd done an initial once-over on. Finalised and sent off my feedback. Tick. (This with my Racehorse Owners Board hat on).
The All Blacks tied with the Wallabies in the first rugby test match since lockdown - it was a draw! No Sky tv up here to watch it, but I tuned in for the updates and result.
Then, around 5pm, a creative mood enveloped me and I got out all my inks and brushes and papers and whatnot. I spread everything out, sorted it all, and then got to work to fill the Inktober gaps. I had five days to catch up on!
Here they all are ...
The prompt words are not the easiest to work with. And it's always hard to photograph smaller artworks like this. But I enjoyed the creative process.
My favourite is "Teeth" - and I always like the word "Hope".
DAY 7 - FANCY (this is called "Fancy Pants")
Day 8 - TEETH
Day 9 - THROW
Day 10 - HOPE
Day 11 - DISGUSTING
Hmmm, this word didn't inspire me one bit - so I just did a cacophony of colour and swirls to kinda look like bacteria, or virus nasties or even vomit! Yuk!
Tomorrow's word - SLIPPERY
Honestly, these words are tricky, even if you stretch your creative imagination to its limits.
After all that inkwork I then got busy in the cooking realm. Made a lasagne. There is plenty left for tomorrow!
SHARE-NOTE OF THE DAY:
Cat bonding ...
Well with me spending quite a bit of time at Omaha over recent months, Brett is on cat duty back at home. I do bring Indi the cat up sometimes, and definitely when we're both coming up here, but it can be tricky as she goes AWOL when I'm leaving either place and that's not good.
As I've said, Brett's been playing in umpteen golf tournaments at home over winter so hasn't made it up here very often. But that doesn't stop me coming to enjoy it! So Indi has been at home for the past couple of months. It's easier that way.
It's quite good because Brett's never been much of a cat person and Indi has always been a rather aloof cat. But I do declare they are finally forging a bit of a bond.
Brett has never had great tolerance for cats, so this, combined with the fact Indi always had the boys and/or me for cuddles and play and TLC, has meant Brett and Indi have never really got to know each other very well. Acceptance was about as far as things went.
But now that she's getting on in years (nearly 10 and happy to sleep most of the time) - along with him I might add(!) - they head off to bed early, settle in ... and have consequently got to know each other!
Indi's full name is Indiara. So named because Brett and the boys were skiing in Kashmir, India, when I got her. Indi for short.
Today I heard the song "Indiana Wants Me" - a song by R Dean Taylor from 1970. I remember the song well, but absolutely no idea who R Dean Taylor is or was. Still, it's a great song that reminds me of when I was ... yikes, 8 years old when it came out! It always reminded me of childhood summer holidays and a laid back vibe, especially in Taupo. But it's actually a song about regret, hurt, forgiveness - I checked the lyrics for the first time today!
And then I heard the song "Indian Lake" by The Cowsills. Now there's a song about summer holidays! This song was one of dad's absolute favourites. It was virtually on loop all childhood.
And the first four letters of these two songs are ...?
I N D I
Indi the cat!
Beautiful ideal kind easy-care independent self-sufficient smoochy snoozy little Indi the cat.
