Day 6, Level 3: Devising quiz questions, writing, and Hawkes Bay

So the election date has been pushed out - to 17th October. A good call I think. And 9 new cases today. Not so good. But not as bad as other places.

I'd hoped to get back into my studio today, but so many bits and pieces of work and admin and loose ends to tie up cropped up through the day that I never even got down there. A few writing deadlines, a bit of work stuff, voluntary stuff - and suddenly, just like that, the day slipped away on me.

I did have great intentions of baking a lemon cake - but didn't get anywhere near even sussing which lemon I might use!

Because we can't go to pub quiz for the next couple of weeks, the Shadee Bunch team will get back online like we did in Level 4 lockdown. Back in "those days" the quiz company put together a weekly quiz that we did online as a team - so I'm devising a quiz for our L3 Auckland lockdown.

Have been slipping devising quiz questions in between all the above, refining a question here, a question there as I go. Because I'd been bouncing around between various areas of work and whatnot all day, each so different, an idea would pop up and I'd think "that'll make a great question". So I'd add it to the quiz - with a bit of extra research if required.

I'd secretly love to be a quiz question compiler - but the problem is that then I couldn't actually do the quiz as a quizzer - which I also love. So doing this little exercise gives me the chance to compile with a fun aspect to it. We'll get together online with a wine on Tuesday evening, and I'll put the rest of the team to the test!

I may be up all night devising questions ...!!!

SHARE-NOTE OF THE DAY:
Hawkes Bay ... Aug 2017

I looked back on what we were up to in August 2017, two years ago. We had a long weekend in the Hawkes Bay and it was great. Stayed in Havelock North, explored all around the place, including Napier, and enjoyed great food and wine.

Highlights:

A walk along Wairamara Beach - stunning views out to the very aptly-named Bare Island (Motukura) - I'd never heard of it before, or seen it. But there is no doubt it is a very photogenic feature out to sea, with it's white chalky surface, scored deep, and it's distinctive craggy outline. It may be bare but it's rather beautiful.

The shoreline walk is all flowers and grass and attractive driftwood. Gorgeous!

Same beach, looking the other way

Lunch at Craggy Range vineyard - oysters to start, yum. And you can see how/why it got its name, from the second photo below.

Parapenters in action, soaring through the sky - view from the vineyard restaurant

View to the coast from the top of Te Mata peak

Parapenters take off from the peak on a perfect winter's day

Napier Beach - beautiful but dangerous - don't be fooled, one must not swim here! For looking only!
