A shortish post today. It was the most splendid weather imaginable. Like summer, only better. Shame we can't swim. Today felt more leisurely than most, due I guess to the weather - although I spent most of the day working away on my laptop. I went for a fantastic beach walk around midday, my longest to date, and, for the first time since this whole thing, it really did feel "holiday-ish", for that hour at least. Warm and beautiful - and the light was exceptional. Every shade of blue surrounded me. The sky was cobalt blue one way, tinged with muted turquoise tones another. Today was an autumn day as good as it ever gets. There were plenty of birds and quite a lot of people out walking. There was someone in the water up to their waist - I think they were gathering pipi or tuatua. A nice bright morning at Omaha. I did a bit of work and then gave the floors a good going over (with my new $39 vacuum cleaner). It works a treat - just like a Dyson only way cheaper! Seriously, it's brilliant and gets 5* from me. It made an intolerable job rather tolerable! Headed back to Auckland. The further south I got the worse the weather became. At the Johnstone Tunnels, it was gloomy as I entered. When I exited out the other end, it was pouring down and I needed my windscreen wipers on full bore! Those tunnels are not very long, so it was a bit of a shock and surprise. It poured all the way making for awful driving conditions. The temperature dropped a full 7 degrees C between leaving Omaha and getting to Auckland. Hopped off the motorway to go to a meeting en route - our ex-Omaha neighbour, Michelle Beach, has started up a small business to help small businesses get visible on Social Media. Her business is called BSeen. Michelle and I have caught up a few times recently. W...
Boy have I got some beach photos and footage for you today! I worked all day, including completing and submitting an article on the area to the NZ Herald. I ventured to the beach around 5 o'clock. It was a great day today - without the chilly wind of the last couple of days. The most stunning scene awaited me. It literally took my breath away. I've seen the beach almost every day since lockdown, but I think this is the most splendid it has ever been - and that's saying something! Everything came together at just the right moment - I timed it well today. The beginning of a gentle sunset, all pastel tones and glorious glows. The blues were exceptional. Incoming tide, light reflecting off the white waves which rolled in, orange hues strewn across the sky, a few puffs of cloud, a haze hovering over the sand up the northern end (which has been there for a few days now, not quite sure what it is). I ordered takeaways from the Pt Wells store and as I drove across the causeway...
