Day 3, Level 1: Walk, Work, Cook ... and names

Awaited the arrival of the much anticipated stair-rail installer today. He was a little late - but hey, we're on Omaha time (akin to island time). No worries.

What a lovely guy ... but, alas, he couldn't complete the install as he needed some extra bits he didn't have and not in stock in the warehouse, on order. But he sussed it all and will be ready to complete the job when he returns next week.  So I'll be back.

Once he'd left, I zipped down to the beach for a quick walk. It was glorious, as ever. The waves were subtle but at the same time impressive. As they rose to crescendo, there was a razor-sharpness about them at that very top point just before they curl ... and then crash. It was lovely to watch.

This pic captures that top point of the wave (green band), razor sharp before crashing

The afternoon was a blend of work - on computer and in kitchen.
The neighbours came for dinner tonight - I made pumpkin/kumara/parsnip soup; and a chicken curry with Thai/Indian flavours. Prepped all that amidst work and sunshine. And a bit of housework and washing. It's all gotta be done.

The weather was mostly glorious - with a couple of sunshowers coming through.

Enjoyable evening with neighbours.
And I'll be in bed around midnight I think!

LUNCH: Rye bread with cream cheese
DINNER: Oysters, soup, chicken curry

SHARE-NOTE OF THE DAY:
Names ...
We had an interesting conversation tonight about names - around whether you like it if someone calls you (or someone else) by a shortened version (or not!) - i.e. Peter versus Pete, Steven/Steve, William/Will etc, or a pet name that's personal, or one no longer used because your mum who called you that has passed away.

Do you take offence if someone does call you a shortened version or variant of the name you wish to be known by?
How much do you like and embrace your pet name? Or not?
Are you a stickler, or do you just not care enough?

A name is a name - and some people equate it to themselves in a highly personal and protective way, to be observed exactly. Which is fine.
For others - it's just a name - the important part being who they are, not what they're called.

Personally I don't mind - I'm Sally, some people call me Sal. Many call me both. Either is fine, it's still me either way!
Michael is Michael, Mikey, Mike - depends on the mood, the moment.
Sam is actually Samuel - but he's only ever been called Sam. Or Lambo, Bambo, Lammie ...
Oh, and his friends call him Bag, or Bagos.

A name is a name is a name.
The important component is the person and who they are!

Surnames ... now that's a whole other ball game!
