Day 17, Level 1: Paradise, Specials and Coffee Group

The rain cleared and yet another lovely day dawned.
Did some financial stuff and a bit more tidying and sorting and cleaning and clearing.

Headed to a meeting at EGGS (my old school) - the old quad is going to be re-modelled and landscaped and the Old Girls Assn is planning to hold a fundraising event in September to showcase the plans. We have a good chunk of money for the project but more will be needed to complete the job. It's a bit of an uninspiring space at the moment, but once complete, it will be lovely.

The quad isn't attractive enough to photograph so here's a photo of another lovely part of the school grounds - Paradise. It's aptly named and gorgeous in springtime, as shown here.

A quick trip to the supermarket turned into quite a large shop as they were having a big "specials" day today. If the special was special enough, into the trolley it went - it'll all get eaten and used. Be assured I wasn't stockpiling, as some people seem to be doing again. Just taking advantage of more specials than usual. Although this didn't mean anything was cheap. Nothing much here can be called cheap, especially in a supermarket!

Home to do some more admin and research and then, after dinner (Indian curries, rice, naan), Brett and I watched some comedy tv programmes - QI and Would I Lie to You. Brett usually tunes in for these but I haven't seen them in a while. We laughed out loud often.

SHARE-NOTE OF THE DAY:
Coffee Group ...
With Sam's birthday looming next week (he'll be 27!) - it made me think about our Coffee Group from my ante-natal classes back in 1993.
All our oldest kids will be turning 27 over coming weeks. Hard to comprehend.

The kids may be all grown up now, and based all around the world - but through them, we Mums have formed a solid bond. Six of us still keep in regular touch, catching up for dinner or coffee every once in a while.

From pregnant bellies and the unknowns of giving birth, through sleepless nights and endless nappies (we mostly used cloth ones, disposables were only for outings and special occasions!), through daycare and kindy, schooldays and sports teams, juggling working motherhood - we got together often at each other's houses, kids and babies in tow. It was a great support network through all those years. We've been through trials and tribulations, good times and bad. Special connections indeed.

As the kids became more independent, making their ways in the world, we continued to get together, without the children.
Hmm, must organise another gathering soon ...

Happy Birthday June/July/August 1993 babies!

And there were some more siblings to come for some of the families.
Amazing to think those in the back row are hitting 27 years of age!
