Day 14, L3: Kite-surfing, a Blokart, Warmth and Kiddie-pics
The plumber and electrician came this morning to connect up the radiators and get them working for when the cold temperatures come.
It was nice to have some essential company and a bit of a chat.
Dan the electrician is a local guy and gave me some good inside info as I finalise my new local travel offering - which I'll share more about tomorrow. As a dad of three young kids, he said he'd enjoyed some decent family time without his phone ringing constantly and zooming from one job to the next.
Pete the plumber (an Aussie) couldn't wait to get his mask off as he left once the heating mission was accomplished. Can't say I blame him.
Anyway, we're now all set for winter.

Really blustery today. I could see some kite-surfers out on the sea so braved a walk to the beach. It wasn't actually as bad as I thought it would be, but definitely blustery - perfect for the kite-surfers.
A Blokart was zooming along the beach - looked like a lot of fun. I'd be quite keen to give that a go!

I didn't stay long on the beach as conditions weren't that pleasant but the wind blew away the cobwebs and you could say it was an invigorating little walk.
By mid-afternoon misty rain was falling. By evening it was looking really miserable outside.
I watched the 4pm announcement with interest. So Level 2 is coming very soon. Good job.
Travel can happen, yahoo. To and from Auckland will be possible again. And beyond ...
More on what this means for my travel biz in tomorrow's post ...
LUNCH: Egg and avocado McMuffin.
DINNER: Thai pumpkin soup - one of those pouch jobbies. Jolly good it was too, I'll buy that brand again.
Watched the news special. Did a bit of admin. Had a rare early night!
SHARE-NOTE OF THE DAY:
Yesterday, while sifting through photos, I came across lots of me as a young girl through the years.
Ice-cream, ribbons and bows, and a ukele feature ... as you'll see in this collection of kiddie-pics!
Well, I'm not sure if this is ice-cream but it looks soft and messy!
The bib looks like a hasty makeshift job due to a melting mess! I think this was when we lived in Nelson.
Such concentration! |
And many ribbons and bows ...
