Day 66, Level 1: Horses, function and Norwegian weather site (Best)

 Lovely morning in Katikati - the horses were snoozing and I probably would have snoozed longer if I didn't need to get home. But hey, when this beautiful morning is on your doorstep, getting up is simple.

I went to  visit the horses - one was almost invisible in the grass!

We had breakfast on the patio, chatted about racehorses and everything else under the sun - including weather - see below.  And then it was time to leave. 

En route I got some avocados from a roadside stall - a bag of Hass and also Reid. They are all green and I shall enjoy watching them mature and then devouring them.

The drive home was smooth and without incident. I stuck to the speed limit. People passed me. They clearly weren't sticking to the speed limit. There are some shocking drivers.

Brett's work do - a lunch function. We took an Uber to Villa Maria - a lovely vineyard venue. Sparkling rose on the lawn, yummy food, mixing and mingling.

Salmon entree - it was yum!

 The main was a Christmas style meal - ham, chicken (turkey?) etc etc. And dessert was a delicious custard tart.

One of the staff invited everyone back to her place - a first-home-buyer property in Otahuhu. How fab. Loved it. Lots of good conversations.  And dancing. There was no "lawyer prick-dom" in sight. Had a great time. A really great time.

Another glorious day in lockdown - I'm talking about the weather! Again, today was mostly spent on the computer being gently productive. I brought some art stuff up with me, but I haven't done any painting. Not yet, anyway. Perhaps over the weekend ... Day Twenty-Eight (Wednesday 22nd April) - Cobalt Blue, Covid Test, and Resilience

A shortish post today. It was the most splendid weather imaginable. Like summer, only better. Shame we can't swim. Today felt more leisurely than most, due I guess to the weather - although I spent most of the day working away on my laptop. I went for a fantastic beach walk around midday, my longest to date, and, for the first time since this whole thing, it really did feel "holiday-ish", for that hour at least. Warm and beautiful - and the light was exceptional. Every shade of blue surrounded me. The sky was cobalt blue one way, tinged with muted turquoise tones another. Today was an autumn day as good as it ever gets. There were plenty of  birds and quite a lot of people out walking. There was someone in the water up to their waist - I think they were gathering pipi or tuatua. Day 51, Level 1: For the love of Skiing, Heavenly Lake Tahoe, and Pita bread

Day 51 of level 1 ... It's kind of a meaningless reference these days. No one refers to levels any more in NZ! We're just living life - a little differently. Eyes are turning to the NZ election, coming up on 19th September. Already, the political fisticuffs are out, and shambles is being well and truly spread across the floors of parliament for the unwary to slip on, slither over and end up in. Surely the slopes of parliament can't get any steeper or slipperier? But they will. Meanwhile, it's winter in NZ - and talking of slippery slopes ... people here have been enjoying the skifields which were very busy during the school holidays. There's plenty of snow in the south, but ideally more is required in the central North Island at Mt Ruapehu to get it up to full speed. Being a rocky volcano, the mountain needs good coverage to get fully operational. It's best for spring skiing, with bluebird days and corn snow, so patience is a virtue. Michael went down to ski Mt
