Day 10, Level 3:. An ordinary day and a snoozy cat

 The morning dawned nicely. I was straight into work, had online meetings. Intense, all good.

I went to Matakana early afternoon to get a few supplies. 

There was a film crew in situ in the centre of the village - I'm told they were filming something for Hallmark channel. Think it's a pay channel, no idea what it might be, but worth checking out.

Indi the cat snoozed through most of the day!

I chatted with various friends around the world. OMG everything about today's announcements, around the world, reinforces how complacency is NO-GO!

Made a curry tonight - chicken thighs, roast butternut, lentils, red onion.

It was YUM.

A stunning April day today, I love this time of year. It was hot. The sunset was sublime. Omaha Photo of the Day - pure beauty right there Today, the 2nd of April, is my Dad's birthday (b. 1937). In 1993 we celebrated his 56th birthday with a family dinner at his favourite Thai Restaurant. A month later he was gone. He would have turned 83 today. Cheers Dad, wish you were here. Yesterday, I talked about Little Barrier looking like it was erupting (see photos from yesterday's blog). Today, every exquisite contour of the island was more clearly visible from Omaha shores than I've seen in a very long time. The clarity was astounding. Day Twenty-Eight (Wednesday 22nd April) - Cobalt Blue, Covid Test, and Resilience

A shortish post today. It was the most splendid weather imaginable. Like summer, only better. Shame we can't swim. Today felt more leisurely than most, due I guess to the weather - although I spent most of the day working away on my laptop. I went for a fantastic beach walk around midday, my longest to date, and, for the first time since this whole thing, it really did feel "holiday-ish", for that hour at least. Warm and beautiful - and the light was exceptional. Every shade of blue surrounded me. The sky was cobalt blue one way, tinged with muted turquoise tones another. Today was an autumn day as good as it ever gets. There were plenty of  birds and quite a lot of people out walking. There was someone in the water up to their waist - I think they were gathering pipi or tuatua. Day Twenty - Wind, Wine and Tour Leading

What a windy day! A very wicked wind swirled in all directions all day. Squalls of rain came across every so often. There were many pockets of sunshine but always that wind. I didn't go to the beach today - mainly coz I just couldn't be bothered! I did drive to Matakana for supplies, it was a reasonably relaxed experience although they were low on a bit of stock. I got the last decent box of tissues (no point in small 1-ply rubbish!) Needed a loo paper top up. Another woman and I probably got a bit too close in the wine aisle. She highly recommended the Hunting Lodge "Lustrous" Chardonnay she'd tried last week. I popped a bottle in my trolley. I recommended the Hunting Lodge "Silky" Pinot Noir I'd tried last week. She popped one in her trolley. "I'll feel embarrassed going up to the checkout with all these bottles," she said.
